A WoW Forever leak promises a paid expansion: fact-checked

WoW Forever leak: a worgen crouching in front of a gothic manor under the moon holds a parchment crossed out in red, under the title The phantom expansion, true or false

Article by Kami

Six lines, three dollar prices and not a single screenshot. Two days before the WoW Forever servers open (Wednesday, November 4, midnight on the 5th in Paris), this WoW Forever leak already promises the game’s first paid expansion. This article checks it line by line.

The list spread thanks to the YouTube Short from the PILAV TV channel, « WoW Forever’s FIRST Expansion Just Got LEAKED », published on November 1, 2026. PILAV is a WoW streamer. The Short showed about 1,300 likes and 774 comments on November 2.

Six lines, three prices, and not one screenshot

It all starts with an anonymous 4chan post. It opens with an insult aimed at Blizzard and announces « leaking this garbage now ». It mentions a « 30/60/90 dollar scam expansion pack » planned shortly after launch. In the night of November 1 to 2, a thread opens on the official European WoW Forever forum. Its title: « Is this leak real? (Shadows of Lordaeron) ».

Official WoW Forever forum (Europe), night of November 1 to 2, 2026: the copied list, and the edit stating that the source is an anonymous 4chan post.

Its author copies the list and adds in an edit: « Source is an anonymous post on 4chan, which makes it very likely fake. But still, thoughts? » The list, under the title Shadows of Lordaeron:

  • Price: « $30/$60/$90 »
  • New Alliance race: worgens
  • New Horde race: the « Darkfallen Elf » (fallen elves, a kind of undead elf)
  • New playable zone: Gilneas
  • New raids: « Vault of Origins » and « The Cursed Throne »
  • New dungeons: « Manor Mistmantle » and « Farholde Catacombs »
  • Legendary weapon quest for healers: « Elarathil, Branch of Eternity »

On form: no screenshot, no file, no name. A player in the thread notes that a real leak usually comes with screenshots. Blizzard has neither confirmed nor denied.

What the WoW Forever leak copies: everything that was already public

The four credible lines on the list have one thing in common: the WoW Forever leak only copies what the beta and the specialist press had been showing for weeks.

Gilneas first. During the beta, Gilnean buildings were visible from the coasts of Hillsbrad Foothills and Silverpine Forest. The zone is surrounded by waters with level 63 elite sharks, then guarded by level 63 worgens. Icy Veins describes it under the title « WoW Forever Is Hiding Instance Portals Nobody Can Enter Yet ». Gamewave noted it on October 26, 2026. Worgens therefore already exist, as hostile guardians. Making them a playable race is an extrapolation.

In Duskwood, the Mistmantle estate, setting of The Legend of Stalvan quest chain, now holds a huge new manor. In episode 5 of the official podcast, around 1:38, Clay Stone let slip: « There might be some homes, some manors out there that folks have found, that might be something interesting in the future ». Icy Veins reports the quote. The client data behind our dungeons and raids page agrees. Our entry describes a 5-player dungeon where « the client places neither boss nor level » for now.

Farholde follows the same path. The Riverglades zone already has its known dungeon, Krol’dok Stronghold. A second portal was spotted near Farholde Keep, the Alliance stronghold. The word « Catacombs » appears nowhere: the leak adds it.

On the official forum, a player sums it up: « Most of this isnt new information. » and « Dungeon Names are known. » Then he hammers it home: « I could make up a leak and be 70% right when stuff hits. »

The healer legendary, dug up as early as September 24

The most precise line of the WoW Forever leak, the legendary weapon quest for healers, is nothing new. On September 24, 2026, PopTop published on Icy Veins an article titled « Blizzard Hid WoW: Forever’s First Legendary, but Dataminers Already Found Clues ». Datamining means digging through the game files to find hidden content. Five weeks before the 4chan post, the essentials were therefore public.

Icy Veins article of September 24, 2026 by PopTop on the first hidden legendary of WoW Forever
Icy Veins, September 24, 2026 (PopTop): the legendary is in the files, name erased and stats encrypted.

At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard announced the first legendary quest of Forever for spring 2027, along with two new raids. In the beta files (version 1.60.1.69977), the item exists, but its name has been erased and its stats encrypted. What one can read there is « Bough of the World Tree », strengthened by six vessels during a ritual with the Cenarion Circle. The path would go through the Hyjal Summit raid and solo fights. It would also include a pylon puzzle in Un’Goro Crater and effects tied to Archimonde. Our article on the future map shown at PAX also mentions Mount Hyjal and Archimonde.

Icy Veins cautiously infers a probable healer staff, usable by druids, shamans and priests.

The link with the anonymous list is direct. « Healer Legendary Weapon Questline » repeats that inference. « Branch of Eternity » rephrases the « Bough of the World Tree ». The two new raids copy the BlizzCon announcement. Only the name « Elarathil » is new, and it appears nowhere else. A forum player puts it his own way: « Healer legendary is most likely. »

Price, model, schedule: what doesn’t hold up

This WoW Forever leak lists three prices: « $30/$60/$90 ». Yet three editions are already on sale in the Battle.net shop. The Skyborne Heroic Pack costs €29.99, the Epic Pack €59.99 and the Warcraft Forever Collection €79.99. Prices noted on October 26, 2026, detailed in our edition comparison. Two tiers out of three therefore copy the existing price grid, and the third doesn’t even match: 90 against 79.99.

What the leak says What exists Verdict
Prices $30 / $60 / $90 Packs at €29.99 / €59.99 / €79.99 Copied, 3rd tier wrong
Paid expansion with raids and dungeons Content included in the subscription, only a race is sold separately Contrary to the model
Release shortly after launch One patch targeted every four months Hard to believe
Darkfallen Elf, Vault of Origins, The Cursed Throne, Elarathil No trace Not found

Blizzard’s business model raises a second problem. Access to WoW Forever is included in the World of Warcraft subscription or game time. What is sold separately today is a race (the Skyborne) and cosmetic bonuses, not dungeons or raids. A paid expansion full of raids would go against that model, and Blizzard aims for a patch every four months (see our article on triple specialization).

Timing is just as shaky. A player in the official forum thread replies: « A paid expansion wouldn’t be releasing so soon after WoW Forever’s launch whether those details are real or not. »

Finally, the names. « Darkfallen Elf », « Vault of Origins », « The Cursed Throne », « Elarathil » and « Farholde Catacombs » turn up in no search. They are also absent from the client data the site collects for its dungeon and raid pages (51 instances listed). As for Shadows of Lordaeron, it reuses a known word: the Ruins of Lordaeron are among the launch dungeons.

A paid race within a year seems plausible to me: the Skyborne precedent shows it, and a forum player floats the idea of a €30 race pack every 9 to 12 months. Selling raids and dungeons in a paid pack, on the other hand, would break the principle of a game included in the subscription. The WoW Forever leak takes what already sells and what is already visible, then makes up the rest.

Shen’serrar: the only riddle signed by Blizzard

The week’s other riddle fits in five words, on the blackboard of episode 6 of the official podcast, « All About Tech ». The episode went online on October 29, 2026 on the official Blizzard page. Behind Josh « Aggrend » Greenfield, senior game designer, one can read: « SHEN’SERRAR LEZAL MELOR’NA ADALA FAL ». Our episode summary covers the rest of the discussion.

Official Blizzard page for episode 6, October 29, 2026: the board, top left, behind Josh « Aggrend » Greenfield.

This board is a recurring wink: in episode 5 (October 22), it simply read « THE PODCAST WILL CONTINUE », according to Warcraft Tavern.

Players proposed a reading, published on October 31 by the community site wowforever.be. It would be Darnassian, the language of the night elves. « Shen » would mean « hidden » and « serrar » « blade », as in Quel’Serrar. « Lezal » remains untranslated. The end would read roughly « truth is a light that guides », hence a possible reading: « the hidden blade is our light ». This is a partial, player-made translation. Blizzard has explained nothing.

In Classic, Quel’Serrar is a tank sword. It is obtained through a quest chain that starts in Dire Maul and goes through Onyxia. Onyxia’s Lair opens in Forever on December 9, with Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit (see our episode 5 summary).

In the client data the site collects for its dungeon and raid pages, the quests « Nostro’s Compendium » (200 reputation points with the Shen’dralar) and « The Forging of Quel’Serrar » do exist. They are level 60. No reward is listed for them, and the sword does not appear among the items collected.

A hypothesis, nothing more: the first word on the board, « Shen’serrar », looks like a blend of the Shen’dralar, the faction that gives the quest, and Quel’Serrar, the sword it forges.

The official clue points to a blade, the WoW Forever leak from 4chan to a healer branch. The only serious riddle of the week is written in chalk behind a developer.
