Twenty-six days before WoW Forever launches, the October 9 RestedXP update wraps up the first phase of the guide. The leveling routes from level 1 to level 35 are finished for both the Horde and the Alliance, according to the changelog published on October 9 and the email sent the same day to the guide’s partners. It adds 125 quests, the Skyborne starting zone and six new race/class combinations.
Since we published our first article on the guide, one question comes back under every video and in every stream: what happens after level 35, since not all Forever quests are known yet? RestedXP answers it in black and white: the route doesn’t stop, it falls back to the Classic guides.

The Skyborne starting zone gets its route
Skyborne characters start on Zephras Isle, and their abilities are listed on our racial abilities page. RestedXP draws a separate route for each faction there: levels 1 to 12 on the Horde side, 1 to 14 on the Alliance side. Some steps are written to take advantage of the Skyborne racial ability, which a generic route wouldn’t do.
Class quests on the island are built into the route: pet taming for the Hunter, bear form for the Druid and the fire totem for the Shaman. Once you finish the island, the guide moves on by itself to Westfall for the Alliance, and to Silverpine Forest or The Barrens for the Horde. The other races that go through the island are covered too.

125 quests added by the RestedXP update
The changelog gives the exact count per zone. On the Alliance side, Teldrassil and Wetlands get the most new content. On the Horde side, it’s Tirisfal Glades and Durotar, and Tirisfal also has eight Paladin-only quests.
| Alliance (62 quests) | Horde (63 quests) |
|---|---|
| Teldrassil: 11 | Tirisfal Glades: 14 (+8 Paladin) |
| Wetlands: 10 | Durotar: 13 |
| Elwynn Forest: 8 | The Barrens: 10 |
| Dun Morogh: 6 | Mulgore: 9 |
| Duskwood: 6 | Orgrimmar: 5 |
| Stranglethorn Vale: 5 | Skywatcher Plateau: 5 |
| Redridge Mountains: 4 | Stonetalon Mountains: 2 |
| Stormwind, Loch Modan, Westfall, Darkshore: 2 each | Ashenvale, Thousand Needles: 2 each |
| Darnassus, Ashenvale, Stonetalon Mountains, Desolace: 1 each | Undercity: 1 |
Some of these quests only appear if the “Show Group Quests” option is ticked in the addon’s Guide Routing tab. RestedXP also removed quests from some zones that paid off too little for the time they cost.

Six race/class combinations now supported
WoW Forever opens up pairings that were impossible in Classic, and the guide now follows them. Alliance side: the Dwarf Shaman, the Gnome Priest and the Human Hunter. Horde side: the Undead Paladin, the Orc Mage and the Troll Warlock. The Undead Paladin gets its own quest chain, “Redemption”, which RestedXP added to the route.
Other route tweaks listed in the changelog:
- all the Shaman totem quests on the Alliance side;
- a reworked Teldrassil route for every class, with a quick stop in Darnassus at level 10 for the Priest Starshards quests and the Druid bear form quests;
- a detour through Loch Modan between levels 14 and 16 for the Night Elf, which fills the experience gap in Darkshore and unlocks flight paths for what comes next;
- the sleeping bag quest chain;
- routes redone around the new boat connections, work RestedXP will keep doing until launch;
- stops at the auction house to buy the new consumables and items that speed up quest turn-ins.
Before you pick your pairing, our talent calculator shows you the full tree of each class as it exists in Forever.
After level 35: the Era routes take over
It’s the question I get asked the most, and the October 9 RestedXP update changes nothing beyond level 35. The email sent that day answers it. Until the Forever routes for levels 35 to 60 are written, the addon guides you with the Era routes, the ones from the original Classic. So you have a complete path to level 60 from November 4. Only the second half isn’t yet tailored to the new Forever quests.
The beta has been capped at level 30 since the October 1 patch: nobody, at RestedXP or anywhere else, can play Forever’s high-level zones yet to plot an optimized route through them.

What comes next, according to the RestedXP Forever page:
- Phase 2, in progress: the Dungeon Leveling Guide. It organizes progression around dungeons and has you pick up their quests before going in. Blizzard has just cut the experience from beta dungeons, which will weigh on these routes.
- Phase 3, after launch: the Forever routes for levels 35 to 60, for both the Speedrun Guide and the dungeon guide, then the Discovery feature (it prioritizes the new Forever quests) and the Legacy Guide (a guide to Legacy achievements, on standard servers).
RestedXP says Discovery and Legacy could arrive earlier if development gets ahead of schedule. No date is given for the 35 to 60 routes. If you want an idea of how much play time that represents, we covered how long it takes to reach level 60.
Try it for free before you pay
Levels 1 to 20 are free for everyone in the addon, including the zones the RestedXP update has just reworked. During the beta, you can redo the Skyborne starting zone, or the one for your usual race, with the arrow and judge for yourself. To set it up, follow our RestedXP installation tutorial for WoW Forever.
If the route suits you, the full guide costs $45 for both factions or $30 for one. Using the link below takes 10% off automatically: no promo code to hunt for, the discount and tracking are handled by the link. The purchase includes future updates, so the Forever 35 to 60 routes when they come out.

My advice as a player: if you’re leveling a single character to discover Forever, the twenty free levels are enough to find out whether following an arrow is for you. If you plan a reroll, a PvP group waiting for you at 60 or a raid guild from week one, the marked route saves you whole evenings, and the Era half of the path has already proven itself in Classic.
