On October 24, a thread on Blizzard’s US forum opened under the title « All the streamers going Alliance ». Behind the joke sits a practical question for anyone playing PvP (player versus player): if the big names pick a side, what is left for those who arrive after them? Blizzard has written a rule that makes the answer serious. On the PvP ruleset, the WoW Forever faction is chosen once, and creation can be limited for a faction.
A forum is not a source: nobody in it speaks for a streamer. The rule, on the other hand, is official. Here is what is written, what the beta numbers show, and what is still unknown a few days before November 5, midnight Paris time (the time in each time zone).
What the streamer thread says, and what it does not prove
Published on October 24, the first post fits in three lines: « Soda, Venruki…others. I wonder why…definately not racials. » It mocks the supposed imbalance of racial abilities. Two hours later, the user Bingchow gives a list: Venruki, Pika, Soda, Xaryu, Esfand, Ziqo, Payo, Shobek and Summit « going PVP Alliance », for one reason: « Mostly just stronger / safer racials ».

That list is one forum user’s word. None of the nine confirmed a faction in this thread, and we found no statement that establishes it for all nine. One cross-check exists on our side: in his October 24 video, Venruki says he will play the PvP ruleset despite a streamer’s constraints, as our article on his fun curve details. He does not say which faction. Treat the thread as a trend signal, never as a census.
The WoW Forever faction on the PvP ruleset: what Blizzard writes
The text comes from Blizzard’s article on choosing a ruleset, updated on October 22. On the PvP ruleset, the publisher writes, « players can only create characters for one faction ». An Alliance character created there rules out creating a Horde character there, and the reverse. The Normal, Roleplaying and Hardcore rulesets accept both sides. Blizzard also announces a population balancing system « similar to the approach introduced in Season of Discovery », where creating characters for one faction could be limited for a while.
| Point | What Blizzard writes | What is not said |
|---|---|---|
| Faction on the PvP ruleset | One faction for the characters created | The exact scope: the account, or the region (Method’s guide says region) |
| Limited creation | A balancing system inspired by Season of Discovery, which can limit creation for a faction | The threshold, the duration, the targeted faction, the moment it triggers |
| Switching side or ruleset | No free move between rulesets: you have to create a new character | A faction change service: no announcement found |
That last point weighs heavily. Transfers between rulesets are « deliberately limited », as we recalled in our guide Normal, PvP or roleplaying. If Alliance is locked the day you want to create your character, no source we consulted offers a way out. The RP-PvP case remains open: Blizzard has not said whether the same rule applies there.
Beta numbers: 51 against 49, no desert on the Alliance side
For the WoW Forever faction, the risk therefore does not come from an empty Alliance. The 60.tools census, fed by the ClassicPlus Census addon, counted 1,148,135 beta characters up to October 29. On the PvP ruleset, it shows 50.9% Alliance against 49.1% Horde (291,128 against 281,121 characters). The same table gives the Horde an edge on the PvE side (Normal): 53.7%.

These numbers call for caution. They count beta characters, not players, and only those an addon user has run into. Blizzard publishes no population, and the census restarts at launch. On active characters of the last 24 hours alone, wowforeverdata.com showed 42.1% Alliance against 57.9% Horde on October 17. For the WoW Forever faction, a beta average does not predict the split of a launch where hundreds of thousands of players choose at the same time.
Olympus and Naguura and Leon’s guild: who goes where
Two big streamer guilds weigh on the split. The first is Olympus, Asmongold’s network of numbered guilds. Dexerto described it on September 22 with « thousands » of players and hundreds following him at the same time. In a stream clip relayed on X on October 8, he says: « I really wouldn’t be able to play the game if we played on a PvP server », fearing the groups of players who hunt him. The same relay credits him with a very high probability of going PvE at launch. We do not have the full video: take it as an intention, not a decision.

Next comes the streamer guild of Naguura and Leon, from the German collective Bonjwa. Chromie.de announced on October 13 a guild of 200 to 250 members, on the Horde side, with no PvP rule imposed. The text says the PvE or PvP choice will be made by internal vote: « Ob auf einem PvE- oder PvP-Server, entscheiden die Teilnehmer über eine interne Abstimmung » (the members will decide by internal vote between a PvE and a PvP server). At the time of the presentation, PvE led with about 65%.
Both of the biggest known concentrations therefore seem to lean toward PvE, that is the Normal ruleset, where no WoW Forever faction is locked. If they hold to it, the rush to PvP Alliance will be smaller than the thread’s title suggests. If they change their minds, a possible creation limit would play out in the first week.
Racials: the thread players’ argument
The thread gives the players’ argument: Alliance would have better racials. One participant writes « Horde racials are obviously worse than Alliance racials, and pretty boring too », then names the Gnome and the Human, with Perception and Will to Survive breaking stuns. It is only a forum player’s opinion. It predates Blizzard’s latest adjustments.

Blizzard has moved since. The October 26 patch, completed on the 27th, retouched the Human, Dwarf, Tauren, Orc, Undead and Skyborne: see our breakdown of the racial abilities. The October 27 additions, the Orc’s Blood Fury cut to 2 minutes and the Undead’s Touch of the Grave to 15 seconds, go to the Horde side. Another player, on the October 27 feedback thread, still judges: « Humans are the strongest race in the game in both PvP (for all) and PvE (for casters) ». Nobody settles it: no level 60 test has happened, and the beta stops at level 30.
What to do before November 3
Name reservation (three characters in total, across all rulesets) runs until November 3. You choose before the launch queue. If you aim for the PvP ruleset, the choice of your WoW Forever faction binds you from the first character created there, according to Blizzard’s text.
| Your situation | The useful move |
|---|---|
| You aim for PvP on a specific side, or have friends in it | Reserve that side’s character before November 3, on the PvP ruleset |
| You hesitate between the two sides | Decide before November 3: afterwards, you create at the same time as everyone else |
| You play in a guild | Decide together on the ruleset and the faction before reserving |
| PvE is enough for you | The Normal ruleset accepts both factions: the lock does not concern you |
One caveat: the scope of the lock (account or region) is not settled, and the thresholds for limiting creation are not published. Check the creation screen before confirming, and watch how the big names split in the first hours.
