A dual-crossbow skirmish style: near-pure Physical sustained fire while you maneuver around the fight. The class's Weapon Swapping feature lets you flow between bolts and blades — Boltslinger is that ranged stance taken all the way.
You may now cast Darkslayer while moving. Ranged attacks and abilities now have a 25% chance to fire an additional shot, dealing 20% ranged AP Physical damage and generating 5 Rage.
Reads like an Outlaw/Survival hybrid built on real tools — a burst-window rogue crossed with a kiting hunter — leaning on escapes and slippery positioning rather than a rotation-locked ranged turret.
Ranged rotation with a single resource to track (Bounty Hunter stacks) and a bolts-and-blades Weapon Swap loop — moderate complexity, carried more by active survival than by a technical combo chain.
Levels as a pure ranged kiter: open on a target with Heartseeking Bolt for burst and a healing-reduction debuff, weave Witchbane and Tormentor as filler/DoT, then dump Rage into Damnation once the target drops below 35% health for the finish. Vault (for kiting) and Witching Shroud (a free magic-immunity proc) from the class tree cover the two ways a lightly-armored ranged spec usually dies — getting caught, and eating a magic crit.
In a group it's a straightforward sustained/execute ranged DPS: Silver Bolts adds a big burst spike on low-health or Undead/Demon adds, and Slayer brings a party-wide crit buff.
- Core loop — Weapon Swapping.
- Signature (Boltslinger): you may now cast Darkslayer while moving. Ranged attacks and abilities now have a 25% chance to fire an additional shot, dealing 20% ranged AP Physical damage and generating 5 Rage.
Near-pure Physical dual-crossbow sustained fire built around bolts and crits that generate Rage, so the ranged special-attack hit/expertise caps (explicitly buffed by Brimming Hatred) come before Agility's RAP/crit payoff.
- A deep, layered escape and anti-burst kit: Daring Escape (a leap back with guaranteed ranged evasion, plus a knockback on your next bolt), Vault (a dash resettable via Escape Artist), and Pavise (a deployed shield) — few specs shrug off a burst combo or reset a fight this well.
- Strong burst windows with a built-in execute and anti-heal: Bounty Hunter stacks feed a charged Heartseeking Bolt that cuts the target's healing received, and Kingdom Hearts turns that bolt into a guaranteed-crit, self-healing execute under 20% health.
- A self-sufficient kiting package: Twilight Frenzy grants movement speed and damage reduction while it spins, and the escape layer plus the Kingdom Hearts execute heal let it survive 1v1 or 1vX without a healer.
- Damage depends first on building Bounty Hunter stacks, so Heartseeking Bolt burst windows are fragile — if the Darkslayer/Witchbane feed is interrupted or the stacks fall off, that link in the chain stalls.
- Weapon-locked to a crossbow: Witchbane, Tormentor, Heartseeking Bolt, and Twilight Frenzy all need a ranged crossbow equipped, and Pavise additionally requires a shield trained via Pavise Crossbowman — so throughput hinges on the right loadout.
- Sustain is thin and conditional: the spec's only restore is Kingdom Hearts' sub-20% execute (a mana refund, not a true heal); real healing means spending a class pick on Vampiric Tonic's lifesteal, and any stun or silence comes from class-kit traps an enemy has to trigger themselves — so you still lean on avoidance to survive, and once cooldowns are down there is little left to pin a target down with.
Approachable, with a couple of systems to learn — gear and ammo swapping.
Modest depth beyond the basics — the sustained pattern rewards clean execution more than deep optimization.
