The dark knight, read from its full builder tree: two-handed strikes that scale with your parry rating, Noctis Blade healing you for 150% of its damage, doubled armor and Shadow Brands on everything you hit. A self-healing duelist that turns defense into offense — comfortably flexing toward tanking.
Auto attacks while wielding a two-handed weapon have a 25% chance to unleash Grasp of the Undying, leeching health from the target based on your Attack Power.
The kit's only caster answer is Black Guard's interrupt and school lockout — there's no AMS-style magic absorb, no self-peel snare or root, and no gap closer, so it plays like a sticky avoidance tank rather than an anti-caster bruiser.
Why is this spec not rated like the others?
Combat logs rank players by damage output. A tank does not produce meaningful damage — its job is to absorb it.
Its rating therefore answers a different question: is it brought to raids?
Across 1587 fights of mythic and ascended raids with at least 90% of the roster known.
The expected share is what a spec would get if slots were split at random between those competing for them — a tank and a damage spec are not after the same number. Above ×1 it is brought more than its share; below, less.
This rating never exceeds A: it describes what groups choose, not what a specialisation produces. A spec can be strong and rare.

Ranking updated on August 29, 2026
The tree run at the highest difficulty. Read from 10 Black Knight Witch Hunters who clear raid bosses in Ascended, of whom 1 has since switched specialisation and 4 were last recorded in a dungeon, leaving 5. 38 of its 51 talents are identical across all 5, so they agree on the bulk of it and part ways on the rest. Recorded on 18 August 2026.
This specialisation is not ranked: the logs record damage dealt and healing, never damage taken or mitigation, so no performance ranking exists for it. These players were picked on the difficulty they clear, not on a score. The 56 points are a fixed budget, so no tree can take everything. The most common picks left out of this one: Strategist 60 %, Vault 60 %, Renegade 40 %.
These talents are a PvE configuration. The Arena and Battleground grades shown above rate the specialisation’s PvP potential, not this tree.
