Knight of Xoroth's War spec is a self-sufficient Strength melee bruiser built on Rage plus two internal secondary resources — Demonfire and Demon's Blood stacks. You build Demonfire with Gore and Meatsaw, then dump it into Skulltaker for a burst that scales with the number of stacks consumed.
Every melee hit quietly stacks Demon's Blood, which pumps the crit chance of Brimstone Bludgeon and Meatsaw, and can auto-trigger your active Pestilence. Brimstone Bludgeon — which transforms Sever — is the AoE pivot: a hard-hitting cleave on nearby enemies that also unleashes Pestilence of Death for a bonus burst.
Doubles the base Weapon Damage dealt by Infernal Strike and increases all critical damage dealt by 25%.
Closest in feel to a Fury/Blood hybrid Death Knight from retail. The parallels are real but softer than a full tank: Gorged (Gore's lifesteal) is a Death Strike analog, Chains of Malice and Chainwhip echo Death Grip with a pull and a silence, and Decimation's guaranteed crit sets up a burst window. Unlike Blood DK, though, it has no big damage-reduction cooldown and no Anti-Magic-Shell-style CC immunity — its win condition is outlasting you with lifesteal and cleave tempo, not walling up and shrugging off damage.
A build-spend melee rotation running two background resources (Demonfire and Demon's Blood) — no razor-sharp burst timing required to be effective, but real room to optimize.
Levels solo or duo by chaining Gore and Meatsaw into Demonfire-dump abilities — Skulltaker, Warbringer, Brimstone Bludgeon — under the Murderous Might damage amplifier. Suffuse paired with Boiling Blood, Black Shield, Juggernaut and Gorged provide enough self-sustain to chain pulls without downtime.
In groups, it's a straightforward melee DPS that also keeps good Pestilence unleash uptime (via Harbinger of Pestilence and Brimstone Bludgeon's unleash) and brings Chains of Malice for crowd control.
- Core loop — build Demonfire with Gore and Meatsaw, then dump it into Skulltaker for a burst that scales with stacks consumed.
- Signature (Crusher): Doubles the base Weapon Damage dealt by Infernal Strike and increases all critical damage dealt by 25%.
2H Strength/attack-power striker (Skulltaker/Gore/Meatsaw/Consuming Blade), with Render converting a portion of Strength into haste and Absolutism making Meatsaw ignore a portion of enemy armor, plus heavy crit talents — hence Strength/AP/Armor Penetration behind the melee hit and expertise caps in PvE. PvP keeps the same stat scaling; only the order changes to put survivability first (Resilience before Stamina).
- Genuine self-sustain: with Pestilence of War up, every Demonfire spent heals you, and its unleash leeches health from nearby enemies — you regen through your own rotation with zero external healing, before Juggernaut's Demon's Blood-fueled damage reduction even factors in.
- Isolate-and-lockdown tools: Flesh Hook (a pull) and Chainwhip (a silence), with cooldowns cut by Hook, Line, and Sinker, let you yank a flag carrier or enemy healer into your own team — strong duo support with zero coordination needed.
- Real AoE cleave to swing skirmishes: Meatsaw (armor-ignoring via Absolutism) and Brimstone Bludgeon (heavy weapon damage plus a Pestilence of Death unleash) can flip an outnumbered fight alone, and Warbringer adds another AoE slam.
- Thin answers to the CC that matters: Burning Rage grants immunity to incapacitate, banish, and polymorph — usable even while already under them — but nothing breaks or immunizes against stuns, fears, or roots; and its defensive buttons (Juggernaut's damage reduction, Black Shield's absorb) both consume banked Demon's Blood, so they compete with each other and may not be loaded when focus fire lands.
- No real answer to kiting: its only reach tool, Flesh Hook, sits on a cooldown and can't affect immune targets; once it's down there's no ranged snare or gap-closer left, and a competent kiter can outlast it.
- No direct healing for anyone else: Conqueror's Will only buffs party crit, and Pestilence of Death only buffs your own crit or debuffs the enemy — if a duo partner gets focused, nothing puts health back on their bar.
Very easy to pick up — a builder-spender loop with few moving parts.
Strong room for skill expression.
