Build Reaper Soul Ascension CoA
Soul
soul magic Shadow 43 spend the harvest

Spend what you reap. Every soul torn from an enemy in melee range feeds a punishing Shadow-magic payoff — one of the most Shadow-heavy ability kits in the entire class.

The Reaper who turns melee harvesting into ranged devastation.

Signature Spell
Weakened Souls

Your Soulrend now also applies Weakened Soul, raising the target's Shadow and Frost damage taken from you by 10%.

Retail Feel

Closest retail analog: Vengeance Demon Hunter. The Soul Fragment-into-self-heal loop is nearly identical in shape (Fracture/Shear into Soul Cleave becomes Reap/Murder/Dirge/auto-procs into Soul Harvest into Reaped Soul spenders here), both are melee specs that heal off their own damage rather than direct heals, and both lean on short defensive cooldowns (Demon Spikes/Metamorphosis versus Limbo and Shade) instead of a steady HoT/shield kit. It's Vengeance's fragment engine wearing a rogue-flavored stealth-and-mobility chassis, courtesy of Shade's improved stealth and the Underwalk/Beyond the Veil movement layer.

Role, tiers & resource

No real group-heal kit — 'support' here means holding your own aggro/survival and adding sustained AoE (Soulslam and Reliquary of the Lost under Soul Infusion), with Death's Presence as the only direct group contribution.

In PvP the Reaper closes with Spectre Stride, locks a target down with Ghost Claw and Deathchaser, and commits with Endbringer once the trade is clearly winning; outside those cooldowns there's no generic CC break and the whole damage/self-heal engine stalls the moment you're kited.

A readable core loop (build then spend Reaped Souls) hides a tight timing puzzle — landing Endbringer, Limbo and Shade on the right windows takes real anticipation, or the spec collapses into plain melee burst with none of its survival texture.

Leveling Guide

Levels as a dual-wield stealth skirmisher: opens from Underwalk/Shade with Dirge and Deathchaser, snowballs Reaped Souls into a Wraithblade burst buffed by Ghostly Weapon, then vanishes between pulls via Shade/Veilwalk/Apparition to reset fights on its own terms while soloing or duoing.

In a group it's straightforward single-target/cleave melee DPS, with Ghastly Hilt/Lord of Death adding minor add-cleave whenever Ghostly Weapon is up.

Ghostly Weapon
The buffed-melee window (25% extra Frost damage) that the whole spec's damage — Ghastly Hilt's cleave, Essence Harvest's scaling, Lord of Death's multi-target — is layered on top of.

Rotation
  1. Core loop: Reaped Souls build up from your strikes and fuel the spec's hardest-hitting spenders.
  2. Signature (Weakened Souls): your Soulrend now also applies Weakened Soul, raising the target's Shadow and Frost damage taken from you by 10%.

PvP
Resilience Stamina Spell Hit Agility Attack Power Critical Strike

The damage kit leans heavily on Attack Power — Deathchaser, Gravesite, Soulrot, Spectre Stride, and Jailer's Call, plus the AP terms baked into Soulrend and Wraithblade — seven AP-scaling abilities against just two spell-power ones, which makes Agility the true primary stat. Spell Hit still comes first because the Shadow-school damage has to land in the first place; the spell-power terms stay marginal, which leaves Intellect as only a minor tail stat.

Off handOff-hand weapon
One-hand melee — Dirge requires a one-hander (dual-wield or 1H plus an off-hand).
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
  • Strong self-sustain without giving up damage: the Soul Harvest cascade heals off your own fragment generation, Lamenting turns Ghostly Weapon's Frost damage into healing, and Spiritual Reflexes fires Soul Harvest whenever you dodge below 35% HP — rare for a melee kit to heal this much with no dedicated heal spell.
  • Layered emergency answers: Limbo is a defensive window against magic burst, Shade drops you into improved stealth while stripping every movement-impairing effect — two separate 'I don't die to that' buttons, and Sepulchral Renewal can reset both.
  • Strong mobility and lockdown to chase a kill or disengage: Spectre Stride is a gap-closer, Shade/Underwalk/Beyond the Veil grant speed (and water-walk), and Ghost Claw plus Deathchaser's sub-20% reapplication pin a single target through the kill.
Weaknesses
  • Almost no real peel or healing for a teammate despite the 'support' framing — Death's Presence (a static party damage buff) is the entire party kit; a pressured duo partner gets zero direct heal, shield, or CC-break from you.
  • Defensive answers are finite cooldowns: once Limbo and Shade are spent, there's no generic CC-break left before a second burst.
  • The whole engine is melee-uptime-dependent: Soul Fragments into Reaped Souls into Soul Infusion into Reliquary of the Lost/Soulslam all require landing hits in melee range, so a kite, root, or slow stalls both your damage and self-healing at once, and your Runic Power dries up the moment you can't connect.
