Build Guardian Inspiration Ascension CoA
Inspiration
banners party-wide buffs Inspiration resource

Guardian Inspiration turns the class feature into a full specialization: you generate Inspiration, a passive gauge that reduces the damage your allies take, and spend it on banners and rally effects — eleven buff abilities, the biggest support kit in the game. You're the reason the party's health bars move slower.

Closest to Augmentation Evoker — both are melee-adjacent support units whose primary value is buffing an ally's damage output (Song of Steel and Inspiring Presence scaling off attack power, mirroring Ebon Might on the Evoker) rather than direct healing, both keep personal DPS uptime while doing it (the Ballad/Broad Sweep/Ram loop echoes the Evoker's own spellcasting), and both bring hard utility on top (Liberation / Cavalry Charge / Song of Battle's stun echo Landslide, Wing Buffet, or Time Stop). The divergence is the frame: Inspiration is literally standing in melee with a shield and a block-rating stat, so it plays like an Augmentation Evoker that decided to also gear like a Protection Warrior.

In a BG you plant Standard of Valiance at the point or chokepoint for the group's damage reduction and CC resistance, then stay in the scrum landing Broad Sweep/Ram/Ballads. Your anti-CC kit (Liberation, Cavalry Charge, You Shall Not Fall!) is genuinely strong for a hybrid, but you remain vulnerable to sustained magic damage and kiting due to thin magic mitigation.

The loop itself is simple to keep running — few windows to time precisely — but knowing WHEN to hold Liberation, Cavalry Charge, and Voice of an Angel in reserve instead of blowing them on the first mishap, so they're available the moment your partner actually gets trained, is what separates a decent Inspiration from a great one.

Leveling Guide

Solo or duo, you level by weaving auto-attacks into Ballads for self-healing via Veteran of the Third War, while ticking out steady AoE damage/CC with Sound of War. Shrug It Off and Counter Stance keep you alive against kiting, since this isn't built for burst single-target DPS.

Its real job shows up in a group: Banner of Conquest and Banner of Swiftness plus Battle Drums buff the raid's crit and haste, Liberation breaks crowd control, Song of Battle and Champion's Presence deliver periodic burst-utility windows, and Voice of an Angel keeps those tools on a short cooldown leash.

Inspiring Leader
The single point that turns Pulverize and Broad Sweep into Ballads, converting the shared melee chassis into Inspiration's entire support identity — every later pick just scales Ballads and Sound of War.

Rotation
  1. Core loop — Inspiration, the passive gauge that lowers your allies' damage taken and gets spent through your support kit.
CooldownsHold Song of Battle and Champion's Presence for the moments that matter instead of blowing them on the first pull, and bank Liberation — Voice of an Angel instantly resets Liberation, Harrowing Melody, and Hero's March the moment you need them again.

Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
  • Best-in-kit anti-CC for a hybrid — Liberation breaks stun/fear/polymorph and dispels magic, Cavalry Charge prevents root/slow on allies, and You Shall Not Fall!, attached to Standard of Valiance, gives the whole group passive stun/grip resist.
  • Real self-sustain without a healer — Veteran of the Third War's on-block heal, Fearless's stacking damage reduction while surrounded, and Voice of an Angel resetting your defensive cooldowns let it outlast focus fire on its own.
  • Can swing a fight by itself — Song of Battle (AoE damage into an AoE stun), Harrowing Melody (AoE damage + anti-heal), and a genuinely tanky shield frame let it stand in the middle of a scrum and matter.
Weaknesses
  • No hard single-target heal — its healing is drip-fed (Standard of Recovery's ground HoT and Knight's Calling's self-restore), so it can't burst-heal a partner who's being trained down fast.
  • Thin anti-magic — only Little Drummer's curse resist and Dissonance's resistance shred touch magic mitigation, so sustained caster pressure or kiting is its worst matchup.
  • Charge- and cooldown-gated burst — Ram/Ballad charges plus Song of Battle/Champion's Presence cooldowns mean big damage and CC windows are finite; caught with charges down and no cooldowns, you're just auto-attacking and weaving fillers.

Very easy to pick up. Sustained with few moving parts.

Skill Ceiling
Medium

Modest depth beyond the basics. The sustained pattern rewards clean execution more than deep optimization.
