Build Bloodmage Eternal Ascension CoA
Eternal
pack leadership curse-tank ally bolster

Eternal turns the Worgen curse into a tank kit: a self-healing tank line — direct heal, HoT, and defensives — that also bolsters its packmates while it holds the line.

It's less about flat mitigation and more about regenerating through the damage it takes, and making the whole pack tougher around it.

Closest to a Guardian Druid / Blood Death Knight hybrid. Enraging Wounds and Bloodbolt fill the Death Strike role — melee crits leech health, and Bloodbolt heals a share of the damage it deals — Thick Pelt and Shadows In The Night stack Guardian-style passive mitigation, and Eternal Curse's tradeoff (item armor / Stamina / threat up, damage down) is exactly Blood/Bear presence stance math, backed by a real taunt in Blood Howl. Rage generated by landing and eating hits, rather than a clean builder/spender like Runic Power, mirrors the combat-contact resource loop. Where it deviates from a pure tank is the self-sustain-through-damage layer — Bloodbolt lifesteal, Monstrous Howl's enraged Bloodfang Bites (still named Monstrous Hunger on the official builder), and Enraging Wounds' Stamina-scaling melee-crit leech — that lets it stay up on its own without a healer; no single retail spec does both the deep-mitigation tanking and the vampiric self-heal at once.

Why is this spec not rated like the others?

Combat logs rank players by damage output. A tank does not produce meaningful damage — its job is to absorb it.

Its rating therefore answers a different question: is it brought to raids?

24%representation
17.2%expected share
×1.39its share

Across 671 fights of raids, all difficulties with at least 90% of the roster known.

The expected share is what a spec would get if slots were split at random between those competing for them — a tank and a damage spec are not after the same number. Above ×1 it is brought more than its share; below, less.

This rating never exceeds A: it describes what groups choose, not what a specialisation produces. A spec can be strong and rare.

Ranking updated on August 17, 2026

These talents are a PvE configuration. The Arena and Battleground grades shown above rate the specialisation’s PvP potential — not this tree.

Stat Priority
PvE
Defense (to the crit-immunity cap, non-negotiable floor) Stamina (Eternal Curse grants +25% total Stamina and +200% armor-from-items, so Stamina is doubly amplified) Hit/Expertise (Bare Fangs/Blood Howl taunts and Bloodfang Bite/Rotclaw threat abilities must land) Armor Agility (drives AP for the threat-generating Bloodfang Bite/Claw Sweep kit) Critical Strike/Haste
PvP
Resilience Stamina Defense Armor Hit/Expertise

This is a self-healing 'curse-tank' (Bloodbolt heals, Ironhide delays damage, Eternal Curse pumps armor and Stamina) rather than a pure-avoidance tank, so after the mandatory Defense floor it leans hardest into the Stamina/armor multipliers its own transformation grants, with landed taunts/threat abilities next.
