A-TIER | BUILD PRIMALIST WILDWALKER (@ascensionsidekick) | ASCENSION CoA

Build Primalist Wildwalker Ascension CoA
Wildwalker
beast boons Roars 9 buff effects

Wildwalker channels Azeroth's great beasts: its melee strikes ride on Boons that stack up to 3 times — Boon of the Bear, for one — and on party-wide Roars, 9 buff effects in total. It's a shout-heavy bruiser whose mere presence makes the whole raid hit harder.

Its signature: the spec can tame beasts of Azeroth to fight alongside it — the class's hunter side.

Signature Spell
Spirit Beast Master

You may now tame beasts in Azeroth to aid you as a companion.

Retail Feel

The closest retail feel is a Beast Mastery Hunter played as a melee bruiser. It's a pet class at heart: Spirit Beast Master lets it tame beasts, and Bestial Wrath, Legacy of Rexxar and Rylak's Blessing all revolve around the companion. Group value comes from attack-power buffs (Killer's Path plus the party AP boosts) and a pet-delivered interrupt via Throat Clamp. The Wildclaw/Totemic Smash weapon-strike identity, paired with the Savage Frenzy enrage and the Son of Ursoc snare-break, layers a bruiser flavor on top. The pet-centric resource model, crit-triggered bleed sustain and AP-buff support land it closest to a melee-played Beast Mastery. Self-sustain comes from crit-triggered bleed procs and lifesteal rather than a real heal kit — this is a damage spec, not a healer.

Role, tiers & resource
A
Dungeon
In dungeons, pull packs with Totemic Smash and spread pet bleeds with Primal Shred, keep your attack-power buffs (Killer's Path) up, and hold Throat Clamp ready as the group's only interrupt — with no cleanse or targeted heal of its own, both of which stay entirely on the healer.
B
Raid
A high sustained damage ceiling — no combat rez in the Primalist's kit.

ComplexityNormal
In PvP the spec plants itself in the scrum and hits hard while soaking damage: Primal Shred cleaves multiple targets and its bleeds tick through defensives, while Throat Clamp dashes in to interrupt and school-lock an enemy caster and peel for a healer. Its anti-CC rides entirely on the Savage Frenzy/Son of Ursoc cooldown rather than a passive immunity, which leaves it exposed to sustained kiting and to burst openers that land before that cooldown is up.

In practice the rotation is one simple idea — dump Roars and Boons into Totemic Smash and Primal Shred — but the real room for improvement sits in timing Throat Clamp, saving the Savage Frenzy window, and keeping the crit-triggered bleeds rolling without a gap.

Leveling Guide

Solo or duo: open with Rylak's Bite to charge in with the pet, keep Fury of the Wild up so the pet shares your Boons, then cycle Totemic Smash into Torn to Shreds bleeds while Bearskin, Stone Cold and Earthmother's Blessing absorb mistakes — a very forgiving 1v1 grind since the pet tanks half the damage.

Group job: sustained single-target or cleave damage through Totemic Smash and stacked bleeds, with Savage Frenzy/Son of Ursoc as the burst window, and Primal Totem/Killer's Path as your raid-buff contribution.

PvE

PvP
Resilience Stamina Hit (to cap) Strength Expertise Critical Strike Armor Penetration

A purely physical, attack-power kit (Wildclaw / Totemic Smash / Primal Shred) whose signature effects are crit-gated — Legacy of Rexxar, Rexxar's Might's bleed-on-crit, Sharpened Claws, Torn to Shreds. Because the kit runs entirely on crit, Critical Strike outranks Armor Penetration; the primary attribute stays Strength (attack power).

Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
  • Legacy of Rexxar, Rexxar's Might and Lacerations stack constant bleed pressure and pet procs with no healer behind you — enough to grind 1v1s and skirmishes on its own.
  • Throat Clamp sends the pet in to interrupt and school-lock, while Rylak's Bite closes distance on two charges — a lockout and stickiness few bruiser kits ever get.
  • Killer's Path and the party attack-power buffs stack on top of already-full melee damage, swinging group fights well beyond your own numbers.
Weaknesses
  • No ranged attack beyond Rylak's Bite's charge — anyone who keeps their distance wins on attrition.
  • This is not a healer. Protective Roar's group heal is one roar on a cooldown, and any cleanse relies on Grove Guardian borrowed from the class tree. A duo partner gets self-sufficiency, an interrupt and AP buffs — never real external healing.
  • Anti-CC is Savage Frenzy's snare-break and nothing else. Outside that window there's no stun or root immunity, so a well-timed opener or a second CC chain locks it down.
