Two classes scaled up, six others calmed in the arena
From 20 to 22 August, this Ascension patch pushed 258 lines into the official Changelog channel, spread across twelve classes plus a block of general changes. It is the second-biggest batch of the month, behind the 273 lines of 15 August. Most of it sits in two offensive overhauls, the Stormbringer and the Felsworn, whose damage tables are raised spell by spell. Against that, the run of PvP adjustments announced last week starts landing, class by class.
- The main overhaul The Stormbringer: 108 lines on its own, twelve spell power coefficients revised across ten different spells, and six talents changed.
- The second overhaul The Felsworn: 50 lines, four attack spells raised by a third or more, and a defensive side that trades self-healing for damage reduction.
- The PvP bill Reaper, Tinker, Necromancer, Runemaster and Templar take the adjustments promised last week. None of those five comes out ahead.
- Already live 215 of the 258 lines are active, including every damage increase for the Stormbringer, the Felsworn, the Barbarian and the Primalist.
- Raid content Primal Hakkari Idols now also drop from Jeklik and Venoxis across all four difficulties, and Onyxia’s spear no longer sticks on a tank.
- Worth watching 43 lines were waiting on the realm restart at the time of writing. They carry the « ○ Announced for the next restart » marker in this article.
Taken from the official Changelog channel of the Ascension Discord, 20 to 22 August 2026. No separate announcement accompanies this batch: the panel above is reconstructed from the changelog lines themselves.
There are two ways to read a batch of 258 lines, and they tell different stories. Counted flat, twelve classes are touched. Looked at closely, two of them absorb 158 lines on their own, because a damage increase is written rank by rank, and a spell sometimes has thirteen of them. This Ascension patch is narrower than it looks, and far deeper where it lands.
The Stormbringer is the overhaul of the month. The team did not settle for lifting a few values: twelve lines raise spell power coefficients across ten spells, which means the class now converts each point of gear far better rather than just gaining a flat bonus. Conjure Storm sees its direct damage multiplied by more than one and a half at every rank. Six talents change behaviour on top of that, including Wind Gate: Evacuate moving to two charges. The Felsworn follows the same logic on its offence, with four attack spells raised by a third or more against monsters.
The other half of the patch is markedly less cheerful for those on the receiving end. Last week the team announced PvP adjustments for six classes; five of them are served here, and none gains anything at all. The Reaper loses nearly all of its healing-by-hitting, the Templar watches its comfort mechanics get shaved one by one, the Tinker takes three reductions with no compensation. The Runemaster, meanwhile, goes back over a talent already adjusted five days earlier, a sign the first pass did not do the job.
To place a class before digging into the detail, the Ascension tier list gives the current ranking by game mode, and the Ascension builder lets you test a talent tree before spending a single essence.
How to read this article
General changes
Sixteen class-agnostic lines, along two separate threads. The first extends last week’s Sun Cleric overhaul: seven lines come back to it, including a rewrite of how its abilities trigger the rest of your gear. Glorious Execution, Vow of the Valkyr, Justice, Radiance and Dawnfall were not waking up talents, tier-set bonuses or items properly. That is the kind of fix that changes no displayed number and still weighs heavily on a class’s real damage.
The second thread touches everyone: four damage-over-time spells now scale with Haste, which finally makes them respond to a stat everyone stacks. The rest is raid maintenance: Onyxia’s spear no longer sticks on a tank, Hakkari idols drop from two more bosses, and a tank’s opening threat now follows their health pool instead of staying fixed.
What went up

- ◆Recasting Champion of the Sun now maintains one stack, refreshes its full duration, and can no longer temporarily double its damage or prematurely remove the renewed effect.
- ◆Corrected Hegemony’s Radiance extension behavior. Entering Dawn now adds six seconds to an existing Radiance without overwriting it, while correctly granting a single six-second Radiance when none is active.
Stormbringer
Net buffOne hundred and eight lines, more than twice the second-biggest overhaul in this patch. The Stormbringer is not getting a tuning pass: its entire damage table is being raised, spell by spell and rank by rank. Twelve lines lift spell power scaling across ten different spells, and behind each one follows the full list of ranks. Drown goes from 81 to 122 % scaling, Conjure Storm from 16 to 28 % on its direct damage, and its base damage is multiplied by more than one and a half at every rank.
Six talents also change behaviour, and that is where the class really gains depth. Master Elementalist pulls both its coefficients up to the same value, Storm Clouds doubles Body of Lightning damage, Aurat Scripts gains a Gale synergy, and Wind Gate: Evacuate moves to two charges, a mobility gain rather than one more number.
A single line goes the other way, and it targets player versus player: Arm of Thorim loses 22 % damage against players. It lands in the same breath as a bug fix that was robbing the spell of part of its spell power scaling, which reads less as a punishment than as a correction: the spell gets stronger in PvE, so it gets calmed in PvP before it runs away. The verdict is in no doubt regardless.

Felsworn
Net buffThe Felsworn picks up thirty-five lines of pure damage increases, out of fifty in total. Four attack spells see every rank climb by a third or more against monsters: Twin Slice, Felrend, Annihilan Strike and Azzinoth’s Assault. Felrend very nearly doubles at each rank. Bane of Chaos gets the same treatment, plus three seconds of duration and a periodic coefficient going from 16 to 26 %.
The defensive side is the only place the class gives anything up, and the trade is explicit. Hateforged Barrier no longer heals but cuts physical damage taken by 10 %, and Demonic Will stops healing entirely. In exchange, Anti-Magic climbs to 15 %. The Felsworn is moving away from passive self-healing towards damage reduction: less self-sufficient, but far easier to read for a healer who has to keep it alive.
Every one of the eight remaining talents goes up: Agility converted into crit, physical damage, doubled Oblivion duration, Chaos damage on critical auto attacks. Across this whole patch, a class gaining that much on offence while giving up only convenience healing comes out ahead.

Templar
Net nerfThe imbalance is obvious as soon as you look at what each side touches, across the class’s twenty-one lines. The thirteen increases, with one exception, all land on two spells: Argent Blade and Scarlet Hammer. Generous numbers, but numbers. The seven decreases go after mechanics instead. Blade Sermon procs Zealotry half as often, Chakra of Light returns half as much cooldown, and Deep Secrets stops affecting Testaments.
The class is fresh out of a full overhaul published in early August, and it was already on the list of six classes flagged for PvP adjustments. Here they are: Libram of Tenacity sees its damage reduction halved against players, and Libram of Grace loses on both of its scalings at once. Coming out of this patch, the Templar is still fearsome on raw damage, but the team is methodically stripping away what made its overhaul comfortable.

Barbarian
Net buffSixteen of the twenty-five lines are nothing but the ranks of two spells, Breath of the North and Keg Smash, both raised by roughly a third and given better attack power scaling. In this patch Keg Smash also costs fifteen less energy, which changes how often you press it far more than its damage does.
The six remaining mechanical changes are worth far more than their number. Ancestral Combat becomes passive, freeing an action bar slot, and Improved Ancestral Combat disappears in favour of a brand-new ability, Ancestral Evolution. Thane’s Grip stops reducing your damage dealt: its historic penalty is simply gone. Nothing goes down in this section, and a class that gains a new ability while shedding a penalty needs no long calculation.

Reworks and fixes

Reaper
Net nerfTen lines, eight of which take something away, and they all aim at the same thing: the Reaper’s ability to heal itself by hitting. Limbo no longer heals at all, Essence Invigoration drops to 3 %, Doomrend’s absorb stops scaling with Strength, and This Is My Domain sees its healing bonus fall from 75 to 30 % inside Harvesting Grounds.
Mobility takes a hit too, in a subtler shape: Damned trades five seconds of slow immunity for three seconds of raw speed. On paper it is a swap; in practice an escape tool becomes a gap-closer. Only the 6 % reduction in damage taken in PvE goes the other way, and it does not offset the rest. The Reaper was one of the six classes flagged for PvP adjustments, and this patch presents the bill.

- ◆Damned now increases your movement speed by 30% for 3 seconds instead of preventing you from being slowed below 100% speed for 5 seconds. ○ Announced for the next restart
Primalist
Net buffEight lines, eight increases, no downside. Bash doubles its weapon damage, Terrasmash doubles its proc chance, and four mountain talents each gain an extra effect: crit, damage dealt, haste, then Stamina converted into attack power for King of the Mountain.
The last line is the most interesting one for anyone who plays the class: Stone Skin and Earthbreaker now work with geodes. Two talents that ignored a central mechanic of the tree finally start talking to it. That is the kind of fix that opens whole builds.
What went up
- ▲Bash now deals 100% weapon damage up from 50%.
- ▲Earth’s Rage now gives 3% Haste up from 2%.
- ▲Terrasmash now has a 60% chance to proc up from 30%.
- ▲Mountain Mover now also gives 5% more Wildclaw damage per stack.
- ▲Resources of the Earth now also gives 4% critical strike chance.
- ▲Call of the Mountain now also gives you 5% increased damage dealt.
- ▲King of the Mountain now also grants you 30% of your Stamina as attack power.
- ▲Stone Skin and Earthbreaker now both also work with Geodes (such as those triggered from Terrasmash).
Necromancer
Net nerfFive decreases and one neutral adjustment, all aimed at the minions. Raise: Ghoul heals 30 % less, undead take extra damage in PvP, their movement speed falls back in line, and Mass Grave waits ten more seconds between uses.
The heaviest line is presented as a fix: Life For Power was triggering at any health level when it was only ever meant to work below 50 %. A talent that ran permanently becomes conditional. The team calls it a bug; the builds that lived on it will call it a straight loss. Across this whole patch, only Plague Science goes up, to 125 %, and one isolated increase does not overturn six reductions.
What went up
- ▲Plague Science has been buffed to 125% from 100% to really bring death upon your foes.
What went down
- ▼Raise: Ghoul healing done reduced by 30%. ○ Announced for the next restart
- ▼Undead: Assault speed value reduced from 50% to 30%. ○ Announced for the next restart
- ▼Life For Power fixed to only apply below 50% health (Was previously mistakenly applying at any health value). ○ Announced for the next restart
- ▼Mass Grave cooldown increased from 30 sec to 40 sec. ○ Announced for the next restart
- ▼Undead minions now take additional damage in PVP. ○ Announced for the next restart
Reworks and fixes
- ◆Undead minions now move at a more standard pace across them. (100% to 120% from 100% to 200% ranges). ○ Announced for the next restart
Knight of Xoroth
Net buffFour clear increases, and one bug fix. Decimation is by far the most spectacular: it goes from 25 to 100 % bonus damage in PvE, across five attacks instead of one. The spell is unchanged against players, which shows exactly where the team wants to push the class.
The rest follows the same direction: Knight of Pestilence doubles its critical damage bonus, Consuming Blade hands a little more crit to Gore, and Mutilation extends to Infernal Strike. As for the Render talent, it was failing to update your attack speed correctly, a flaw that cost damage without ever being visible.
What went up
- ▲Consuming Blade now gives 30/60% critical strike chance to Gore up from 25/50.
- ▲Knight of Pestilence now gives 100% increased critical damage with Pestilences up from 50%.
- ▲Mutilation now also works with Infernal Strike.
- ▲Decimation now works on your next 5 attacks in PvE and deals 100% increased damage up from 25%. Against players this spell is unchanged.
Reworks and fixes
- ◆Fixed a bug where the Render talent wasn’t correctly updating your attack speed.
Tinker
Net nerfThree lines, three decreases, and one common theme: control and passive survivability. Scrapshielding gets a ten-second internal cooldown, which stops it re-arming on loop under fire. Freeze Bomb Launcher slows less hard and for less time, and Build: Mechsuit loses a third of its movement speed.
Nothing compensates. The Tinker was also on the list of classes flagged for PvP adjustments, and these three lines of the patch read more like a down payment than a final bill.
What went down
- ▼Scrapshielding now has a 10 second internal cooldown. ○ Announced for the next restart
- ▼Build: Mechsuit movement speed increased reduced from 15% to 10%. (Doubled with Turbo Upgrade!). ○ Announced for the next restart
- ▼Freeze Bomb Launcher slow value reduced from 15% per stack to 10%. Duration reduced from 10 sec to 8 sec. ○ Announced for the next restart
Chronomancer
Net buffThe Chronomancer only gets two lines, and both aim at the same ability, in the right direction. Incarnation of Chaos now lets you cast Chromatic Shard while moving, baseline, a comfort you previously had to go looking for elsewhere.
Chaos Infusion is reworked alongside it: three extra seconds on Incarnation, and above all no cooldown on Melt Reality while it holds. The talent stops being a passive bonus and becomes a damage window you open on purpose. Add that Melt Reality now scales with Haste, a line filed under this patch’s general changes, and that window turns genuinely dangerous.
What went up
- ▲Incarnation of Chaos now allows you to cast Chromatic Shard while moving baseline.
Reworks and fixes
- ◆Chaos Infusion has been reworked – it now increases the duration of Incarnation of Chaos by 3 sec and removes the cooldown of Melt Reality while active.
Runemaster
Net nerfBoth Runemaster lines are about player versus player. Hurricane deals 20 % less damage to players, and Residual Power sees its value reduced in the same context.
That second line is worth pausing on: Residual Power was already adjusted on 15 August, in the patch that overhauled the class. The team is back on it five days later, a sign that the previous tuning did not land as intended. The Runemaster keeps its PvE power intact; the bill comes due in the arena.
What went down
- ▼Hurricane now deals 20% less damage versus players. ○ Announced for the next restart
- ▼Residual Power value is now reduced in PVP. ○ Announced for the next restart
Sun Cleric
Net buffA single line is filed under the class itself, and it goes up: Valkyr’s Grip raises off-hand weapon damage by 30 or 60 % depending on rank, instead of 20 or 40 %. For a healer the team has been pushing towards a hybrid style that hits as hard as it heals, that is one more piece in the same direction.
Most of the work on this class sits in the general changes at the top of the article, though: seven lines there fix how its abilities trigger the rest of your gear, and an eighth cuts its healing by 11 % in PvP. Taken together those lines weigh more than this one, but the changelog filed them outside the class, and this article leaves them where the team put them.
What went up
- ▲Valkyr’s Grip offhand weapon damage increase up to 30/60% from 20/40%. ○ Announced for the next restart
Word from the Ascension teamThe team announced last week that six classes would each get their own PvP adjustments in the days that followed. Five are served here, which leaves the Felsworn still waiting for its own, right after receiving fifty lines of increases. That is most likely where this goes next. On the PvE side the logic runs the other way and reads perfectly clearly: the classes that were not on that list see their damage raised, sometimes massively.
As always with an Ascension patch this size, the numbers announced here can still move before the next realm restart, and 43 of these lines were waiting on exactly that to take effect. To dig further, head to the Ascension hub.
