Gift of the Tree Diablo 4: bonus caches end October 7

Burning Tree of Whispers surrounded by glowing chests, with the words bonus caches before October 7 for Diablo 4

Article by Kami

Until Wednesday, October 7, every turn-in of Grim Favors at the Tree of Whispers earns you one extra cache. Blizzard launched this Gift of the Tree to make up for Season 15's chaotic start. The press has mixed up two different gifts. This one drops on its own as you play. The other, a Resplendent Spark sent by mail, does not reach every account.

Gift of the Tree: what Blizzard promised, and what does not come by mail

On September 23, the official @Diablo account announced the event on X: "Hell's Legacy arrived later than promised. To make up for lost time, Gift of the Tree will be active 9/23 - 10/7, with bonus Gift of the Tree Caches for completing Grim Favors." The French version, relayed by JudgeHype the same day, describes a Whisper cache granted while completing Grim Favors.

The context, according to d4guides: the season started more than five hours late on September 15. Icy Veins adds that Solo Self-Found mode stayed disabled for the first few days, and that cache turn-ins at the Tree of Whispers had a bug. The launch is covered in the article on the Hell's Legacy announcement.

Checking that your Gift of the Tree cache actually dropped

Nothing arrives in the mailbox for this event. The mechanism is described by TheClick on September 24. You fill the Favors gauge by running Whispers, head back to the Tree, and turn in your Favors. That turn-in gives an extra cache alongside the normal reward. During the window, each turn-in therefore yields at least one more cache than usual. You can repeat it as often as the gauge allows.

To check, count what comes out after a turn-in: the normal cache for the Whisper you picked should come with a Gift cache. If only the normal cache shows up, note it, try again on the next turn-in, and report it if it keeps happening.

Several points are documented nowhere. Blizzard gives no minimum level and no realm condition. No source we consulted says whether the Eternal Realm is covered. Blizzard has not specified the exact number of Gift caches per turn-in either, according to d4guides. No end time is given for October 7: turning in your last Favors on October 6 avoids relying on the cutoff time.

The Resplendent Spark is missing from some accounts

Massively OP page titled Diablo 4 sends out apology goodies to players in-game for Season 15 hiccups, but not to everyone
Massively OP, Chris Neal, September 27, 2026: apology gifts in game, but not for everyone.

The mail is a different gift. Since Season 15, the Horadric Post (the in-game mailbox) receives shipments from the team. And Icy Veins reported on September 25 an apology letter attached to a Resplendent SparkResplendent Spark, to be collected in any major city. This material is one of the rarest in the game. Game Rant notes that it buys an Uber Unique (the rarest uniques) from the Alchemist, for a lot of gold.

The distribution is uneven. Massively OP reports that "some players are reporting that they either got just the note and no item, or didn't get either of those things whatsoever". Blizzard had not answered its question at the time of writing. MMOs.com confirms on September 28 that the allocation criteria remain unknown.

Two leads keep coming up in the press. First, a full client restart. Game Rant quotes players whose mail appeared after a relaunch, and describes a distribution "in waves". Then patch 3.2.2. It fixes the inability to interact with the Horadric Post while mounted, according to the notes relayed by Icy Veins. The patch details are in the article on patch 3.2.2.

One mix-up to clear. Hotfix no. 4 of September 23 fixes a different cache, the one from the Resplendent seasonal reputation. According to IndieKings, it could fail to give a Resplendent Spark. The fix applies to future openings, and nothing says Blizzard will compensate caches already opened.

If nothing shows up: what is documented, and what is not

As of October 3, we found no official procedure for a missing Gift of the Tree cache, or for a Resplendent Spark absent from the mail. Blizzard has given no public answer on the subject. The publisher's messages mention no deadline for the mail: only the Gift of the Tree has a cutoff, October 7.

What follows is our advice, since Blizzard has issued no instruction. A report in the Bug Report section of the official Diablo IV forum helps date the problem. Say which platform and realm you play on, how many turn-ins you made and how many caches you received. A screenshot of the empty mailbox, taken after a full restart, saves a pointless back-and-forth.

The charm bug stays open

Maxroll, Avarilyn, October 1, 2026: Blizzard is leaving the Hellfire Torch bug in place this season.

The season's other open issue concerns the Hellfire Torch. According to Maxroll, this interaction lets you equip more unique charms than intended. Design director Dan Tanguay answered: "we've decided not to make changes to it during the current season", because many players have invested time in this item. Blizzard is asking for time to look into it.

Patch 3.2.2 leaves it alone. It fixes a different charm, Henri's Perquisition, which could not be crafted in the Horadric Cube. On the rankings side, Maxroll lists the Hellfire Torch in its Push variants but not in its standard Endgame variants. The class ranking is detailed in the Season 15 tier list.
