Diablo 4 Season 15: Mythic Crafting Finally Fixed

No more randomness for Diablo 4's mythics

Article by Kami

Diablo 4 Season 15 has to fix what Season 14 broke. Season 14, Death Awakening, launched on June 30, 2026 with a promise it failed to keep. The overhaul of mythic item crafting was meant to simplify players' lives. Instead, it made things worse. Six weeks and two patches later, Blizzard is preparing a more radical response, currently being tested on the PTR (the Public Test Realm, open from August 4 to 11, 2026). Here's how the studio went from a system that frustrated everyone to crafting that finally makes sense.

A rocky start for Season 14

From launch, the community flags the same problem. The new mythic crafting system imposes a limit that prevents equipping several crafted mythic items at once. In a game where loot hunting relies precisely on the ability to combine these rare pieces, the restriction lands badly. The most dedicated players work around the issue by repeatedly rolling at the vendor, a random and costly method rather than a real solution.

Blizzard patches it, twice

On July 8, 2026, Blizzard confirms that a Mythic fix is in the works. The studio says it wants to calm the criticism around the system, while the community is already testing its own workarounds in the meantime.

The first patch notes leak before their official release, detailing the July 14 patch buffs to several mythic items. It's a first step, but it doesn't yet address the equip limit that still blocks players.

Three days later, on July 17, a quiet hotfix truly changes things. Spotted by YouTuber wudijo, it simply removes the limit preventing players from equipping multiple crafted mythics at once. A second patch follows on July 28. The system finally breathes, but crafting itself remains just as random as on day one.

Diablo 4 Season 15: two recipes, crafting becomes predictable

The PTR for patch 3.2.0 runs from August 4 to 11, 2026, PC only. It tests a batch of new content planned for Diablo 4 Season 15, from Soul Splinters to legacy legendaries brought back up to date, plus new challenge dungeons. But it's the chapter devoted to mythic items that really changes the game.

The table of contents of Maxroll's PTR article lists, in black and white, three related entries: the mythic changes, the arrival of mythic and unique quality charms, and a new system called the Horadric Post.

Maxroll, updated on August 4, 2026: "Mythic Changes," "New Mythic and Unique Charms," and "Horadric Post" are among the new features listed for Season 15.

At the Horadric Cube, a new direct upgrade recipe lets players turn a rare or legendary item into mythic quality, keeping all its affixes and modifications. The resulting item is marked as crafted, and only one such piece is allowed at a time.

At the Jeweler, a second recipe combines Resplendent Sparks and Runes. It lets players craft a mythic without that one-piece limit, with class-based targeting. The result, according to Blizzard, is that unique variants of the most iconic mythics become much easier to obtain.

The Horadric Post changes reward distribution

The Horadric Post comes with this overhaul. This new system distributes certain rewards directly to the account, rather than only to the character that earned them. Mythic quality charms also make their appearance, an item type previously reserved for lower rarities.

What remains unclear before BlizzCon

All this content still carries the "IN DEVELOPMENT CONTENT, NOT FINAL" label on the PTR. Patch 3.2.0, planned for September, won't reveal everything either. Blizzard is holding some announcements for BlizzCon, scheduled for September 12 and 13, 2026, and the release date for Diablo 4 Season 15 itself hasn't been officially confirmed yet. A window around September 15 is circulating, without confirmation from the studio.

Blizzard Watch, July 30, 2026, by Liz Patt: the studio is saving some of its announcements for BlizzCon 2026.

The official patch notes already mention a 3.1.3 fix announced for August 12. Nothing suggests at this stage that it will touch the mythics, it fits more into the ongoing Season 14 adjustments. To find out what Blizzard is still holding back for BlizzCon, we'll have to wait until the back-to-school season. The rest of Diablo 4 Season 15 will become clearer at that point.
