The Diablo 4 PTR (Public Test Realm, the public test server where Blizzard lets players try changes before release) is still running for a few more days, and it's shaping up Season 15 balance changes. On this testing ground, Blizzard has laid down the first numbers. The contrast is stark. The Barbarian loses ground across nearly every metric. The Warlock, by contrast, gets one of the biggest buff waves in the patch.
These numbers come from a patch that's still in testing. They will change before Season 15 releases. Everything that follows is a snapshot in progress, not a final verdict, and every value cited here comes either from a capture of the official patch notes or from Maxroll's PTR recap.
Diablo 4 PTR closes August 11, Season 15 still undated
Patch 3.2.0 is being tested on PC only, through the Battle.net client, since August 4 at 10am Pacific time. The window closes on August 11 at the same time. One week, not a day more, and after that no way to test anything before the official release.

Blizzard has warned that this PTR only shows part of Season 15's content. The studio is holding back some announcements for BlizzCon, scheduled for September 12-13, 2026. We already covered this in our article about the surprises Blizzard is holding back for BlizzCon.
No firm release date exists yet for Season 15. September 15 is circulating as the strongest guess, based on the usual season cadence, but Blizzard hasn't confirmed it anywhere in writing. Keeping that caveat in mind changes how you should read the rest of this article.
The Barbarian crashes
The heaviest change hits the main stat's scaling factor. On the Diablo 4 PTR, the damage bonus from Strength drops from 1.1 to 0.8 per ten points. A Barbarian loses a chunk of raw damage while keeping the exact same gear.
The Bleed archetype takes several hits in a row. The Bleed paragon node drops from 75% to 60%, the Bloodrage one from 60% to 45%. Two-Handed Sword Expertise loses half its bleed bonus, from 30% to 15%. Two legendary aspects follow the same trend: the Writhing Aspect drops from 7.5-12.5% to 6-9%, the
Battle-Mad Aspect from 15-20% to 10-15%.
Summons don't escape either.
Rallying Cry, with Madawc (the summoned ancestral spirit), has its damage cut in half, from 200% to 100%.
Call of the Ancients loses the same percentage on Madawc's damage, from 240% to 120%.
On the site, our Season 14 Barbarian Rend Bleed build leans exactly on this kind of node. A change this big should force a full rework once Season 15 launches.
The Warlock explodes
Against the Barbarian, the Warlock gets one of the biggest buff waves in the patch. Infernal Breath has its base damage climb from 20% to 30%. Its Demonic Breath variant goes from 35% to 60%. Its Explosive Death variant nearly doubles its damage, from 100% to 200%, with a per-hit bonus that climbs from 10% to 20%.
Hellfire skills move in the same direction. The Metamorphosis Demon of Destruction form now applies a burn on any spell cast, and its bonus to Hellfire skills climbs from 4% to 6%.
On the summon side, summoning Valloch now costs half as much, from 10 to 5 Dominance points. The bite attack from Command Abodian goes from 155% to 245%. Molten Bomb, in its Cluster Bomb variant, now creates an impact zone that grants Shadow Form stacks for seven seconds.
The real quality-of-life change hits mobility. Three spells can now be cast while walking: Sigil of Chaos in its Infernal Aura variant, Dark Prison in its Chain Aura variant, and Bombardment in its Endless Barrage variant. For a class built around ground zones, being able to move while casting changes how the class plays.
Our Season 14 tanky Warlock Blazing Cry build directly benefits from these Hellfire buffs.
These swings also weigh on another choice: which class to pick with Rebirth, the new Eternal character system planned for Season 15. A Warlock that explodes on the PTR doesn't carry the same weight as a Barbarian that crashes.
Druid, Necromancer, Sorcerer: the same boost
In these Diablo 4 Season 15 balance changes, three classes get the same increase to their main stat's scaling factor, from 1.25 to 1.625.
The Druid also gains 15% resource regeneration in Human Form. Two uniques jump noticeably:
Greatstaff of the Crone goes from 60-80% to 120-150%, and
Fleshrender from 40-50% to 100-135%. The unique
Airidah's Inexorable Will jumps from 7-10% to 30-45%.

The Necromancer's
Sever gets fixed on a point that had been an issue for a long time. Projectile targeting now hits the main target more consistently, for both the initial impact and the scythe attack. On the damage side, its Harvest Lotus variant goes from 40% to 60%,
Bone Prison in its Plunging Darkness variant from 300% to 450%,
Blood Wave in its Path of Darkness variant from 600% to 800%, and
Soulrift from 300% to 350%.
The Sorcerer gets a mix of buffs and nerfs.
Shivering Aspect climbs from 60-90% to 90-120%. But the
Pyromaniac glyph drops back from 18% to 15%, and
Enchantment Master loses 40 points, from 100% to 60%.
These buffs and nerfs also redefine which items are worth pouring crafting resources into. The new deterministic Mythic crafting system looks a lot different once you know which classes actually benefit.
The Spiritborn comes back down, a new board compensates
The Spiritborn takes a clear nerf on Season 14's most visible build. Pestilent Swarm, the core of
Counterattack of the Swarm, has its damage cut in half, from 150% to 75%.
As compensation, a new paragon board shows up, named Storm Swarm, with one legendary node and several rare nodes. Two existing glyphs move in the same direction. The
Talon glyph goes from 15% to 25% critical damage for Eagle. The
Jagged Plume glyph has its movement speed bonus per storm feather reduced from 5% to 2%, but its maximum stack count doubled, from 5 to 10.
Rogue and Paladin: low-key tweaks
The Rogue mostly gets quality-of-life adjustments. The Shadow Step Echo variant gets renamed (it used to be called Shadow Play). Smoke Grenade, in its Shadow Grenade variant, gains damage bonuses tied to combo points and shadow. The Tricks of the Trade paragon node adds 20% extra damage against enemies hit by Marksman, Flurry, Mobility, or Trap skills.

The Paladin also benefits from the scaling factor increase to 1.625. Its unique Oath of the Judge deals 100% extra damage, but only against a lone enemy, which limits its value in groups.
Taken together, these changes are going to shake up the current rankings. Our Season 14 Top 10 DPS builds rely heavily on nodes and uniques that lose or gain power on this PTR.
Bugs to know before starting a session
Blizzard keeps an updated list of known issues on the Diablo 4 PTR, posted by Community Manager Lyricana. Several directly affect the balance changes detailed above, and change how you should read the numbers.

- The mythic unique weapon The Furnace doesn't roll its maximum values on its mythic version.
- King Leoric's Mace can't be enchanted at the Occultist.
- Counterattack of the Swarm deals more damage than the patch notes state. The nerf detailed above isn't fully applied in-game yet.
- Aspect of Evasion doesn't give the correct values once imprinted on an amulet.
- Aspect of the Bone Breaker doesn't increase summon damage as intended.
- The 5-piece set bonus of Nafain's Bestiary triggers with only 2 pieces equipped.
- Henri's Requisition unique charm carries an extra Thorns affix.
- The talisman tied to the unique
The Hemat Stone doesn't match the item's affix value. - The Warlock's class mechanic doesn't unlock automatically with the level 70 boost.
All good reasons to read these Diablo 4 PTR balance numbers as a starting point, not the final version. Another system expected for Season 15, Soul Splinters, is also going to reshuffle builds on top of these balance changes. Everything can still change before Season 15 arrives, official date or not.
