Beast Mastery, the specialization that brings the pet to life
In vanilla, Beast Mastery is the specialization that turns the pet into a weapon in its own right rather than just a hunting companion. Bestial Wrath unleashes a furious pet for 18 seconds, immune to fear and immobilization; Ferocity and Unleashed Fury then push its critical strike chance and damage ever higher. It’s the tree best suited to the solo hunter: the pet tanks and hits, the player supports and finishes the job. It’s also the most forgiving of positioning mistakes in dungeons or while leveling, since a good chunk of the damage comes from a near-unkillable creature rather than an exposed player. In vanilla raids it weighed less than Marksmanship on the pure ranged damage column, but its on-demand burst and its pet’s toughness make it a solid choice for PvP as well as leveling.
What Forever changes in the Beast Mastery tree
Of sixteen talents, Forever really only touches two, and both are entirely new: Focused Fire and Summon Hawk. The first ties the hunter’s own damage to their pet’s presence, at 1% per rank for as long as it stays active, a quiet incentive to never let it die. The second adds a genuine offensive ability: a hawk dives on the target and keeps up the assault for 18 seconds, sharing a cooldown with Arcane Shot. The other nine tweaks only change percentages (attack speed, armor, critical strike chance), and two talents are gone without a replacement. Nothing suggests Blizzard wanted to rethink this tree: it worked, and it stays almost untouched.

Few changes, a build guide is still coming
Nothing suggests Blizzard wanted to rethink this tree: it worked, and it stays almost untouched. A build guide will still settle the question once the spec has been tested in game, from the beta on September 17, 2026 through to full launch on November 4, 2026.
