Holy Paladin, the specialization that keeps the raid alive
In vanilla, Holy Paladin is the class’s real healer: Holy Light and Flash of Light carry most of the raid healing, backed up by Holy Shock, the hybrid spell that heals an ally or hits an enemy with the same cast. Illumination refunds part of the mana spent on a critical heal, which builds a healer designed for an entire fight rather than one that dumps its mana bar in thirty seconds. Spiritual Focus protects long casts from being pushed back by damage taken mid-cast, which is essential when healing out in the open, under fire. In a group, it’s the class you put on the main tank or on whoever is taking the most damage; solo, a Paladin’s survival mostly comes from its armor and shields, not this tree. It’s neither a damage nor a control specialization: it’s the one that keeps the raid alive while everyone else swings.
What Forever changes in the Holy tree
Of the tree’s eighteen talents, eight are brand new and seven have been reworked: on its own, that proportion puts Holy at the top of the most heavily reworked trees in all of Forever. Voice of Truth grants immunity to Silence and Interrupt effects for 6 seconds, a safety net vanilla Holy never had. Reverence lets 30% of your mana regeneration continue while casting, and Light’s Vigil turns the next Holy Shock cast on its target into a cooldown-free group heal: this is exactly the kind of ability Blizzard singled out by name when presenting Forever, as an example of its philosophy: filling a gameplay gap without touching the class’s identity. Four talents are gone, including Consecration and the old Improved Lay on Hands. Only Divine Strength and Divine Intellect go through Forever without a single change; Divine Favor simply moves to a different spot in the tree, with its effect untouched.

Light’s Vigil, the piece Blizzard is highlighting
Light’s Vigil is the talent Blizzard itself cites as an example of its philosophy for Forever. Whether it actually holds up in raid remains to be seen: the build guide will follow once the spec has been tested in game, from the beta’s opening on September 17, 2026 through to launch on November 4, 2026.
