Holy Priest, the backbone of vanilla healing
In vanilla, Holy is the spec every priest takes into raid: Greater Heal and Prayer of Healing carry most of the group’s health, Improved Renew and Improved Healing cut down the downtime between casts, and Spirit of Redemption lets the priest keep healing for fifteen seconds after their own death, one of the class’s most recognizable spells. It’s a straightforward specialization: few mechanics to track, plenty of mana, and good judgment on who to heal first. It suits a player who wants a reliable support role in raid and dungeon alike, without the fine proc management the other trees demand. Holy Nova even gives it, while solo, a small area heal that helps out when several enemies attack at once.
What Forever changes in the Holy tree
Of the sixteen vanilla talents, five stay identical and nine are tweaked, almost always through simple percentage adjustments rather than reworks. Three brand-new talents arrive: Litany of Light returns mana for varying which healing spells you cast, Binding Heal heals the priest and a friendly target at once, and above all Prayer of Mending, a heal that jumps from target to target across the group, up to five times. Two talents disappear, including Lightwell, the placeable object allies had to click themselves. Holy changes less than Discipline, then: it’s a tree Forever polishes, not one it rebuilds.

- Improved Prayer of Healing — Reduces the Mana cost of your Prayer of Healing spell by 10%.
- Lightwell — Creates a holy Lightwell near the priest. Members of your raid or party can click the Lightwell to restore 800 health over 10 sec. Being attacked cancels the effect. Lightwell lasts for 3 min or 5 charges.
Prayer of Mending put to the raid test
Holy changes less than Discipline: Forever polishes it rather than rebuilding it. What Prayer of Mending brings to a raid healing rotation remains to be seen; the answer will come with the build guide once the spec has been tested in-game: beta on September 17, 2026, launch on November 4, 2026.
