Arcane Mage, Vanilla’s Support Specialization
In vanilla, Arcane is almost never a specialization in its own right: it’s a pool of talents that Fire and Frost mages raid for their first points before running off into their main tree. Arcane Focus, Arcane Resilience, and above all Presence of Mind live there, the latter turning your next cast into an instant spell, a burst tool feared in arenas. Few players push the tree all the way: Arcane Power costs a lot of mana and works as an occasional boost, not a rotation engine. In vanilla, this specialization suits players after raid utility (threat reduction, magic resistance) and a PvP tool, not players who want to chain spells in a loop. What Forever changes about this tree could well flip that logic on its head.
What Forever Changes in the Arcane Tree
Out of the eighteen talents listed in the tree, Forever reworks twelve and adds only three, but those three change the specialization’s whole nature. Arcane Blast is the clearest example: a damage spell that buffs itself with every cast, stacking up to four times, growing stronger the more you repeat it despite its rising mana cost. Missile Barrage gives it an ideal companion by speeding up and making free your next Arcane Missiles channel. Arcane Geometry, more understated, simply extends spell range. One talent disappears: Magic Attunement. The rest of the changes adjust percentages without changing how the spells work. Nobody has tested this combination at level 60 yet, but Blizzard’s intent is already readable in the numbers.

The Real Test Awaits the Beta
Historically picked for three points and then forgotten, Arcane changes status on paper: nobody has played Arcane Blast at level 60 yet. The build guide that will say whether the promise holds up follows the beta opening on September 17, 2026, refined through to the November 4, 2026 launch.
