A tank that casts Holy spells

The Protection Paladin holds the line with a shield and Righteous Fury. Holy-Protection keeps that defensive base and adds Holy talents, among them Holy Power and Divine Favor. The simulation has it cast Holy Shock and Consecration on top of its weapon strikes.

Damage, opener and rotation of Holy-Protection

Seal of Righteousness (15.8% of the damage), Judgement of Righteousness (15.6%) and Melee (15%) weigh the most in the simulation.

Before the fight the character uses Righteous Fury (5 s before) and Seal of Righteousness (3 s before). The simulator’s priority list starts with Seal of Righteousness, Holy Strike, Consecration and Holy Shock; the full list, with the condition of each line, is in the Rotation block below.

On the talent side, the build takes Divine Strength, Divine Intellect, Holy Power and Improved Seals to maximum rank in Holy, then Redoubt, Precision, Improved Righteous Fury and Shield Specialization to maximum rank in Protection.

Damage breakdown

Each line is an ability: the damage per second it adds, its share of the total, how many times it is cast in a fight, the damage of an average cast and, for a lasting effect, the part of the fight where it is active.

What the Holy-Protection simulation does not tell

MythicSim’s tank ranking rests on the threat generated on a single target, in the gear described by the credit line. On its own it does not measure how the character takes a boss’s damage, and it covers neither a multi-boss raid nor PvP. Its simulation engine is not the game.
