By day three of Season 15, one Rogue had already cleared Pit 150, the deepest tier of the endgame dungeon. The feat relied on a bug that stacked damage with no cap. On September 17, 2026, at 11:24 p.m. Paris time, Blizzard shut it down with a Diablo 4 hotfix. A hotfix is a server-side fix that requires no download. A second one followed less than twenty-four hours later.
Between the two, four combat bugs got squashed and the free teleport disappeared. Tree of Whispers rewards were unlocked. Solo Self-Found mode (playing without a party or trading, with its own leaderboard) reopened. Here's what changes for your character, in the order it happened.
What the September 17 Patch Note Fixes

This season's second Diablo 4 hotfix comes in five lines, posted by Marcoose on the official forum. In two days, the thread was viewed nearly 29,000 times. Four lines directly affect the game:
- the Rogue's
Dance of Knives "could sometimes deal far higher damage than intended"; - transfiguring three Ancestral armor pieces carrying the Stealth Rune Word produced a Stealth with Enigma's power;
- Messerschmidt's Reaver, one of the season's nine Legacy uniques, could heal enemies instead of hurting them;
- Splinter of the Mother didn't drain its charges or stun its wearer when paired with Leoric's Crown.
The fifth line promises "various stability fixes," with no further detail. Icy Veins, penned by Miril, sums up the first bug with a word Blizzard never uses: damage that's "infinitely scaling."
Pit 150 on Day Three: The Bug, Piece by Piece
The mechanic was broken down by content creator Sliver of time, who opens the video with a tired observation: "there's nothing new under the sun." Every season has its infinite-damage Rogue, and this one was no exception.
Two ingredients were enough. First, the Inner Sight specialization, available to everyone. Second, the five-piece bonus from the Spellbound Steel charm set. That combo kept re-triggering the
Shadow Imbuement,
Cold Imbuement, and
Poison Imbuement as long as the character kept spinning. Damage climbed with every blade rotation.
A bug report from September 16 had already flagged the same set on the forum, one day before the Diablo 4 hotfix. Sliver of time was betting on a late fix, "at the end of the season." The fix landed the day after that report.

Stealth Loses Enigma's Teleport

The other fix in this Diablo 4 hotfix made more noise, because it affected every class. Enigma is the most famous Rune Word in Diablo II. Its power replaces dodge with a teleport. Stealth, meanwhile, is an entry-level Rune Word. The Horadric Cube transfigures three items into one. Running three Ancestral Stealth armors through the Cube produced a Stealth that teleported like an Enigma.
The fix also applies to armor already crafted. On the thread opened by Venser, one player describes leaving the Pit, going back in, and finding their dodge back to normal. Replies split into two camps. Vidar jokes: "Fun was detected." Drake is blunt: "Stealth is NOT supposed to do that… clearly a bug." BruceBanner looks elsewhere: "they are quick to stop fun but we still can't even play SSF?" The answer came the next day.

The Real Enigma Can Still Be Crafted
After the September 17 Diablo 4 hotfix, permanent teleport still exists, at its real price. In a video posted the evening of the fix, Rob2628 revisits the classic recipe: a white chest armor, then the
Jah, Ith, and Ber Runes, all transmuted in the Cube.
Rob2628 farms these Runes in Kurast's Undercity, the timed dungeon from Vessel of Hatred, and reports finding only three Ber Runes since launch. Ber remains the bottleneck. One more useful detail: the resulting Enigma can be traded between players.
Rob2628 isn't defending the old trick, though. The verdict: "this stealth rune word was freaking OP."
The Third Diablo 4 Hotfix Fixes Whispers and Reopens Solo Self-Found

Twenty-five minutes after the September 17 note, a second Community Manager, filthierich, wrote in the same thread that the team was investigating a blocker: finished Whispers couldn't be turned in, not to the Ravens, not to the Tree. The reward-selection screen showed up empty. That post got 85 "likes," against 11 for the patch note. Players had made their priorities clear.
At 3:44 a.m., a new promise: "we're currently aiming to have a fix ready for tomorrow." It was kept. Hotfix 3 arrived on September 18 at 9:08 p.m., with three lines. Tree of Whispers caches can be claimed again. The trade window now displays items correctly. Solo Self-Found is back online. That mode had been closed since launch. The cause: progress from past seasons wasn't resetting to zero on new characters.

The list of open issues is still long. The tracker kept by Elly on PureDiablo still listed four open bugs as of September 18:
- Wirt's Lucky Coin gets consumed without opening the portal to Tristram;
- War Plans whose completion isn't being recognized;
- Lord of Hatred abilities wrongly locked on Switch 2;
- two Warlock class quests stuck.
Which Rogue to Play After This Diablo 4 Hotfix
Dance of Knives survives the fix, brought back down to its intended damage. The build goes back to what it was last season: mobile, fun to play, solid without being dominant. We've published several versions of it, including Ava's poison variant. If you built it for Pit 150, it's the target tier you need to rethink, not the character.
Two Season 15 Rogues published on the site come out of both fixes untouched. Neither relied on the bug: p4wnyhof's versatile Rain of Arrows and wudijo's poison Penetrating Shot. Our Season 15 tier list ranks the Rogue second thanks to Penetrating Shot, seen clearing Pit 145 on the PTR. Dance of Knives wasn't part of that ranking, so it doesn't need to change.
This week's lesson echoes the unannounced resistance buff. In the first week of a season, whatever works too well is rarely intentional. A build that leans on an interaction nobody can explain has a life expectancy of about two days. This one lasted from September 15 to 17.
