This Ascension PvE tier list ranks the eight best Conquest of Azeroth specializations for dungeon and raid, out of the 70 specializations rated in the game. What’s new compared to earlier rankings: dungeon and raid are now both calculated from real combat logs, measured on coa.ascensionlogs.gg, Conquest of Azeroth’s public combat log platform — dungeon on Mythic difficulty (no Mythic+ exists in the game yet) across 39,481 logged fights, raid on world boss encounters. Five of the eight builds in this top rely entirely on that measurement, for both columns. This top eight splits between four ranged DPS, two tanks, one healer and one support — no pure melee build makes the list.
The index used in this Ascension PvE tier list compares every player to the median player on the same boss and the same fight format: an index of 1.00 is exactly the median player’s performance. Out of the game’s 70 specializations, 46 clear the publication threshold for a measured rating — at least 15 distinct players and 30 logged fights; below that threshold, no measured rating is given rather than making one up. All 70 build guides are translated into French on kami-labs.fr, each one shipping a preconfigured interactive talent tree. Find every build, guide and ranking on the Ascension hub.
Why three builds in this top are still hand-graded
Five specializations in this ranking show a measured rating for both dungeon and raid, calculated directly from coa.ascensionlogs.gg combat logs. The other three — the two tanks and the top’s only support build — keep an author’s rating, flagged with a distinct badge under each title.
That’s not an oversight. Combat logs measure damage and healing: that’s exactly what they’re built to capture. They don’t measure how much punishment a build can soak up, how much crowd control it brings, or how useful it is to the rest of the group — the qualities that define a good tank or a good support. Turning those roles into a damage or healing index would produce a precise number, but a wrong one.
Being clear about where the measurement stops is what makes the rest of this ranking trustworthy.
1. Tinker Mechanics — the turrets that never quit
📊 Measured · Dungeon 408 fights (index 1.637) · Raid 296 fights (index 1.34)Tinker Mechanics deploys a Scrapmaw pet and a Sentry Turret, then alternates between ranged shots and Mechsuit, a temporary transformation that unlocks a new spell bar and boosts damage and armor. This build also keeps enemies locked in combat thanks to its turrets. Both of its ratings are measured on coa.ascensionlogs.gg: S in dungeon across 408 fights (index 1.637), S in raid across 296 fights (index 1.34) — the build opens this Ascension PvE tier list with the top’s two best columns.
Immediate pickup, huge skill ceiling: juggling the pet, the turret and the Mechsuit windows takes practice to get the most out of it. A good fit for players who like managing several things on screen at once without giving up damage.

TINKER MECHANICS BUILD
Turrets, pet and Mechsuit: mobile ranged DPS, rated S in dungeon and raid, measured across more than 700 combined fights.

📊 Measured · Dungeon 964 fights (index 2.195) · Raid 444 fights (index 1.612)Witch Doctor Shadowhunting is a ranged DPS that builds its damage over time rather than through big one-off spikes. The build stays near the top of the ranking thanks to rare consistency: few vulnerability windows, steady pressure on the target. Both of its ratings are measured: S in dungeon across 964 fights, with the highest index in the whole top eight (2.195), and S in raid across 444 fights (index 1.612).
Immediate pickup, high skill ceiling: it’s an approachable build from the very first runs, one that later rewards precise timing rather than rotation complexity. A good fit for players who want a reliable ranged DPS without an exotic mechanic to learn before it starts performing.

WITCH DOCTOR SHADOWHUNTING BUILD
Consistent ranged DPS, rated S in dungeon and raid, with the highest measured raid index in the whole top eight.
See the full build3. Ranger Archery — the ranged shot that never falters
📊 Measured · Dungeon 1,559 fights (index 1.695) · Raid 527 fights (index 1.384)Ranger Archery is a pure ranged DPS build, with no detour and no complex resource to manage. It owes a large share of its place in this ranking to the sheer consistency of its parses: 1,559 measured dungeon fights (index 1.695), the biggest log volume of the whole top eight, and 527 raid fights (index 1.384). Both ratings are S.
Immediate pickup, high skill ceiling: the build plays well from the very first try and keeps improving with player experience, with no brutal technical wall. A good fit for players who want a ranged DPS that’s simple to learn but never one to underestimate.

RANGER ARCHERY BUILD
Ranged DPS that’s simple to pick up, rated S in dungeon and raid, on the biggest volume of measured fights in the whole top eight.
See the full build4. Felsworn Tyrant — the unkillable tank
✍️ Editorial rating · dungeon and raidFelsworn Tyrant soaks up more than it deals out. Its game loop revolves around Hateforged Barrier, an absorb that regenerates health as long as it holds, and Demonic Will, which reduces physical damage taken and heals on every hit landed. Tyrannical Resolve ignores a large chunk of incoming damage for several seconds before exploding into a wave of hellfire. Dungeon rating A, raid rating S — both rated by the editorial team rather than measured: soaking up a boss doesn’t show up in a damage or healing index, see the callout box above.
Immediate pickup, huge skill ceiling: the build plays well from the very first runs, but optimizing the timing of its defensive windows takes experience. Ideal for anyone who wants an unkillable tank, just as solid in dungeon as in raid.

FELSWORN TYRANT BUILD
Unkillable tank rated S in raid, a rating set by editorial judgment rather than log measurement.
See the full build5. Felsworn Infernal — the caster running on chaos
📊 Measured · Dungeon 985 fights (index 1.719) · Raid 544 fights (index 1.205)Felsworn Infernal is a hybrid fire/shadow ranged DPS that runs on Felfury. Fel Fireball works as the filler spell and automatically triggers Felstrike; during the Inner Demon window, those strikes deal stacking Shadow Flame burns. Ruin spends the accumulated Felfury to pierce shields, and Felwrath serves as an area burst. Dungeon rating S, measured across 985 fights (index 1.719); raid rating A, measured across 544 fights (index 1.205).
Intermediate pickup, very high skill ceiling: the build doesn’t follow a planned rotation, it reacts to whatever Felfury procs it, which means optimizing stack economy on the fly. On the other hand, the character lacks personal healing and native defenses — survival gets shaky under focused pressure.

FELSWORN INFERNAL BUILD
Felfury-reactive ranged DPS, rated S in dungeon and A in raid, measured across more than 1,500 combined fights.
See the full build6. Bloodmage Eternal — the tank betting on raw resistance
✍️ Editorial rating · dungeon and raidBloodmage Eternal is a tank that bets on soaking up damage rather than on dodging or crowd control. Just like Felsworn Tyrant, both of its ratings stay editorial: dungeon S, raid A. Holding a boss doesn’t show up in a damage or healing log, it takes human judgment — the same commitment to transparency that sets the top’s two tanks apart from the five measured entries.
Immediate pickup, high skill ceiling without being overwhelming: the build plays well from the very first runs and rewards consistency more than raw technicality. A good fit for players who want a solid dungeon tank, with reasonable room to grow into raid.

BLOODMAGE ETERNAL BUILD
Pure-resistance tank, rated A in raid by editorial judgment rather than log measurement.
See the full build7. Cultist Heretic — the heal that bleeds to cure
📊 Measured · Dungeon 452 fights (index 1.461) · Raid 367 fights (index 1.611)Cultist Heretic heals by hurting itself. The build wraps allies in dark wards, tethers the tank with a shared damage link through Abyssal Covenant, then converts its own two-handed melee damage into healing via Black Blood. Both of its ratings are measured on coa.ascensionlogs.gg: A in dungeon across 452 fights (index 1.461), S in raid across 367 fights (index 1.611) — its best showing stays raid, the only measured healing role in this top eight.
Demanding pickup, very high skill ceiling: it takes practice to balance your own damage and healing flow without putting yourself in danger. A good fit for anyone who wants a healer that stays offensive under any circumstances, able to hold its place in both dungeon and raid.

CULTIST HERETIC BUILD
Healer that converts its own melee damage into healing, rated A in dungeon and S in raid, measured across more than 800 combined fights.
See the full build8. Primalist Grovekeeper — the support that heals in melee
✍️ Editorial rating · dungeon and raidPrimalist Grovekeeper works the opposite way from classic healers: it builds Rage by actively hitting things in melee, then converts that resource into massive area healing. Hammer of Life triggers free heals on nearby allies with every auto-attack; Tears of the Earthmother and Seismic Wave spend the Rage gauge on big heals; Sacred Grove drops an instant burst heal followed by a 16-second continuous healing zone. Dungeon rating A, raid rating A — both rated by the editorial team: the support role, just like the tank role, can’t be measured from an individual damage or healing index.
Low pickup difficulty, medium skill ceiling: a continuous healing build with few moving parts, one that rewards clean execution over heavy optimization. A good fit for players who want to stay in melee range while keeping the group alive, without managing a classic targeted-heal rotation.

PRIMALIST GROVEKEEPER BUILD
Support that generates area healing by hitting things in melee, a rating set by editorial judgment rather than log measurement.

This Ascension PvE tier list covers the four roles present in its top eight: ranged DPS, tank, healer and support. On the ranged DPS side, four measured builds compete for the spot: Tinker Mechanics for mobility and turrets, Witch Doctor Shadowhunting for consistency, Ranger Archery for execution simplicity, and Felsworn Infernal for anyone who’d rather react in real time than follow a fixed rotation. For an unkillable tank, Felsworn Tyrant stays the raid reference, with Bloodmage Eternal right behind it for anyone who prefers dungeon consistency — both of their ratings stay editorial, for lack of a reliable measurement for that role. On the healing side, Cultist Heretic is the only measured build in the top; Primalist Grovekeeper, the top’s only support, closes out the list with a rating that’s also editorial.
